Our main goal is … helping build the lifestyle you deserve. To us, “lifestyle” is defined by your personal needs. Whether it’s the luxury of an elevator in the new custom designed home of your dreams, or it’s bringing your loved one back upstairs to the bedroom you have spent your lives sharing, at American Elevator, your needs are our priority.

What is a stairlift and how does it work?

A stairlift is a motorized chair on a track that is secured to your staircase. With a Bruno stairlift provided by American Elevator, there are no structural changes made to your home and the lift glides along stairs without marring walls. With a push of a button, you are gently and securely carried over stairs. When not in use, the seat, arms and foot rest fold compactly to provide ample space for others using the stairs. We can also install your lift on either side of the stairway, so you decide where to put it! At American Elevator, your comfort and safety are our top priority. That’s why all of our stairway lifts include a seat that swivels away from the stair, providing a safe and comfortable way to get on and off the lift. Our lifts are designed to ensure a smooth, comfortable ride that will let you confidently maintain your lifestyle and freely enjoy your whole house.

Will the stairway lift work for someone who also uses a wheelchair?

Access lifts can be useful for someone who has limited mobility. With our swiveling seat, access to and from wheelchairs is much easier than on some of our competitors' non-swiveling models. Convenience features built into our lifts include folding arms that push up and out of the way, soft padded seats, and on some models you have the option of adjustable seat heights.

What about safety features?

All of American Elevator’s stairway lifts are engineered with multiple safety features for your peace of mind. A multi-point safety system includes sensors that stop the lift if something blocks its path, a seatbelt for added security, and brakes that will stop the lift should something go wrong with the drive system. The swivel seats ensure an easier, safer transition from sitting to standing positions. And, the swivel seat locks your seat in place when it’s swiveled away from the landing and ensures the seat swivels only at a landing and not during the ride. Power outages are not a concern because all stairlifts are battery operated and continue to transport you up and down even with electrical interruptions. At American Elevator we have a commitment to quality that ensures nothing will prevent a smooth and safe ride.

Why Include An Elevator?

It wasn't that long ago that it was rare to find a whirlpool bathtub in a home...now they seem to be the norm. Just the same it's not uncommon now to find a home elevator in the plans of single-family homes and condominiums. In addition to the family that simply wants the convenience of an elevator; some families need one for family members or guests who have difficulty traversing the stairs. In the past, these families would often settle for a one-story home, sometimes requiring that they leave a home they already lived in and had grown to love. Now, with residential elevators being so affordable, more people are considering this option. Over 10,000 residential elevators are installed each year and the number is growing as more builders and buyers discover their many advantages:

Surprisingly Affordable

The cost for a residential elevator is also lower than many people think...costing no more than an extra guest room or third car garage in many cases.

Uncommon Conveniences

There are few conveniences that can be added to a home that will be used and appreciated as much as a residential elevator.

An elevator can be elegantly appointed and featured as a dramatic focal point in a key part of the house.
For people who entertain, it welcomes and accommodates all guests.
It can add tremendous value to a home and increase a home’s resale value.
Efficient use of land
The trend toward larger homes with more amenities
Today's homes are larger and require more effort to go from one level to another.
Multi-story homes and town homes are more enjoyable with a residential elevator to provide convenient floor-to-floor travel.
American Elevator installs a wide range of home elevators to meet the needs of all sorts of residences.

Is a home elevator safe?

The answer is yes, when used properly. The elevator, when installed by American Elevator has several safety devices.

Doors - all landing doors are mechanically locked and can only be opened when the elevator is at that floor. The door cannot be opened while the elevator is traveling between floors.

Power failure - the elevator is equipped with a battery operated safety feature which returns the elevator to the designated floor. Emergency lighting comes on to illuminate the cab interior.
